Our Physical Campus,
Highspire Manor
The Highspire Campus, located in Whitehall, NY, serves as the physical home of The Grey School of Wizardry. It provides a space where our pupils and faculty can engage in the tangible aspects of their education, fostering a direct connection with the trade of contemporary Wizardry.
The Highspire campus plays a crucial role in our approach to education. It allows for our pupils to participate in hands-on activities, rituals, and celebrations, offering an environment that supports practical learning alongside the intellectual pursuits of their studies. Whether through outdoor events or specialized workshops, Highspire facilitates experiences that deepen the understanding of what it meand to be a Wizard in real-world contexts.
Highspire’s value as a tool for learning lies in its ability to offer pupils not only a place of study but also a place of retreat and personal growth. It bridges the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application, ensuring that the principles taught at The Grey School of Wizardry can be experienced and mastered in a meaningful way.
Looking ahead, Highspire will play an even more pivotal role with the introduction of GSW's boarding program in 2027, allowing Apprentices to live and learn on campus for a term, fully immersing themselves in the study and practice of wizardry.

Our Virtual Campus,
vGSW
The Virtual Grey School of Wizardry (vGSW) is a working campus built within the digital world of Second Life, serving as a central component of the Grey School’s broader educational framework. While our lessons remain rooted in independent, text-based study, vGSW expands what is possible by offering a shared, immersive environment where apprentices can engage directly—with faculty, peers, and the living material of wizardry itself.
This campus is not a substitute for learning—it is a place where learning takes form. Here, apprentices gather for live classes, study together, explore philosophical and practical questions in real time, and apply their skills through guided scenarios and hands-on activities. The virtual setting allows apprentices from around the world to meet in a shared space, building relationships that turn solitary study into a communal experience.
Programs such as the Cohort track and the Scenarios initiative offer structure and challenge within this environment. Cohort apprentices advance through the curriculum together, supported by weekly faculty-led classes and discussions. Scenario-based training places apprentices in realistic, problem-solving situations where knowledge must be applied—not just recited. In both, vGSW provides a level of feedback, mentorship, and engagement that extends beyond what asynchronous learning can offer on its own.
