About Grey School

¬†Grey School of Wizardry is an outgrowth of the Grey Council, a team of two dozen mages and sages. Working together through the year 2003, weaving the best lessons from many of the magickal community’s most respected elders and teachers into the Grimoire for the Apprentice Wizard edited by Oberon Zell-Ravenheart (New Page Books, 2004).

The Grimoire, however, is only the first phase of a long-range Vision to make available the Wisdom of the Ages for a new generation and a new Millennium. It is both an essential handbook of Apprentice-level Wizardry and a basic textbook for a full seven-year academic curriculum of Wizardly studies. It is supplemented by Companion for the Apprentice Wizard (New Page Books, 2006).

About Grey School of Wizardry
Grey School of Wizardry is a 501(c)3 educational organization, incorporated in the State of California on March 14, 2004. By August 1, of that same year our on-line campus of Grey School of Wizardry was launched, serving as a larger context for the Grimoire and expanded magickal teachings. Although Grey School was originally designed to teach youth students aged 11-17, Grey School also accepts adults. In fact, most of our students are adults ranging in age from 18 to over 80-years-old.

Our virtual campus, created in 2014, is popular and provides a place for students from all around the world to meet, take classes, and enjoy school-wide celebrations together in real-time discussion. Also, there is a School Forum where registered students can post questions or converse with other registered students without venturing into the virtual landscape.

Our range of 480 classes in 16 departments of magickal study, is enough to teach and engage from beginner through scholar. Upon course completion,¬†Apprenticeship students graduate¬†as a “Journeyman Wizard” receiving a certificate of study from Grey School of Wizardry. Taking the Grimoire’s basic curriculum as a starting point, the Grey School of Wizardry adds more Classes, links to specialized websites, and color graphics.

Course materials and exercises are provided and taught by highly-qualified Faculty and guest lecturers. New courses are added continually. Both the Grimoire and the School focus on magick rather than spirituality, although a few Classes cover mythology and comparative religions.

In October of 2015 Grey School opened the Academy of Arcana in downtown Santa Cruz, California which hosts our gift shop, esoteric library and museum of myth, magick & mysterie ~ open to students and members alike.
